The Goonies
In October of 2008, Julian Santos AKA “Juice” and Michael Minelli met through a mutual friend. Juice provided an excellent talent for engineering and producing music; while Michael, a dancer for over 8 years, had recently embarked on a serious singing career. While working together they realized they had a phenomenal chemistry in music.
The pair decided to collaborate and embark on a musical career together. Seeing as both were fans of “The Goonies”, a 1985 film following a group of kids embarking on a journey after discovering a pirate map, Julian and Michael realized they were about to commence a similar journey in the music industry and in April 2009 decided to name themselves “The Goonies”.
They immediately began production on Michaels first mixtape “Anything You Can Do, I Can Do Better”. They continued to grasp an understanding for one anothers musical styles and sound and successfully completed the project. Once it dropped in May of 2009, the pair began to work on Juice’s solo album entitled “All Juiced Up” and Michaels second mixtape “On the Edge”. Between these three projects The Goonies created some phenomenally, original tracks confirming their intuition that this talented pair would lead to bigger and better things.
The Goonies have continued to create unique sounds that appeal to all listeners. The duo has incorporated musical sounds from hard hitting drum patterns, to soft piano melodies. They have been capitalizing on music as a whole and bringing strong emotion into their records.
Currently The Goonies are hard at work on their first mixtape together, entitled “Never Say Die”. The mixtape will feature a wide variety of music including industry instrumentals as well as fully produced Goonies originals. The goal for this tape is to showcase the versatility of the group and provide the public with an understanding of all the different types of music to be made.
